Through A Mother's Eyes: Remembering My Son-In-Law DAVID B. PETERSON

On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, my beloved son-in-law David B. Peterson passed away after suffering a complication incurred from a previous stroke. Over the weekend of May 23-25, David was honored with a Celebration of Life. 

In their desire to further honor David's life, family and friends established the  David B. Peterson Memorial  through the Craig Foundation, (providing unparalleled neurorehabilitation and support for people who have sustained a life-altering brain and/or spinal cord injury by providing a safety net for patients and families whose financial means are inadequate to meet the financial burdens associated with ‘going home.’  Your contributions are welcomed and appreciated. 

For twenty-two years, it was an honor to have David as a part of our family. We miss him. We love him.

Remembering My Son-In-Law DAVID B. PETERSON

 

A sparkle emerged

Landed in my daughter’s eyes

Yes, love at first sight

 

His name is David

He enters our family 

Soft. Kind. One of Us.

 

A mother watches and waits

Two beings blend and balance

Their lives into one

 

Generous David

Bringing joy to my daughter

Travel. Food. Wine. Music.

 

Years pass as love grows

A home. A puppy. A wedding.

A mother’s heart is full

 

David, son-in-law

Is that how the world knows you?

This mother is so proud

 

David, dream-maker

Calistoga. A new home.

Two hearts open to all


Success, the world’s best

It does not go to your head

But it does to mine

 

Tragedy. A stroke

Heartbreak. Humor finds a voice

You call me Mommy

 

You become my Cubs

David. Alexis. Cabi.

Mamma Bear protects

 

David, Cub of Ours

Your Legacy of Love Lives

"The Glass Castle" is a film based on the best-selling memoir by Jeanette Walls.  It is painful and powerful. It is heartwarming and heartbreaking. Jeanette Walls, despite being raised in a chaotic and negligent environment, broke free from the bonds of family dysfunction and built a life for herself as an accomplished journalist.
