Where Is Your Beauty ?

On Saturday, March 30th, 2024, I had the honor of competing in Ms Senior California Pageant. 

I participated in this beautiful pageant to model the importance of  Showing Up For Your Self !

For my talent, I wrote and performed an orginal poem Where Is Your Beauty?

This message is for everyone, regardless of age or gender!


Where Is Your Beauty?

Where is your beauty?

Be still. Turn inward. It’s there.

How is that possible?

 

Beauty is birthed from within.

Its genesis?  A seed of self-worth.

Waiting to be nourished and nurtured.

 

At first, the seed is watered and fed by others.

Nutrients of Love. Compassion. Protection. Encouragement.

The seed of self-worth takes root.

 

Time passes.  A stem of worth emerges.

Fed with Confidence. Strength. Belonging. Acceptance.

The essence of inner beauty begins to form. 

 

All growth faces resistance.

Outside forces can be cruel. Even forces close to us.

As the stem of worth suffers, so does its budding beauty.

 

It is time for you to become the gardener of your worth.

Time for you to discover, define, and determine your self-worth –

Time to cultivate your inner beauty.

 

First, Discover your self-worth. Discover who or what is important to you.

What are your Passions, Pursuits, Gifts, Talents? Big Ideas!

Invest into them. See what works. What doesn’t. Invest again.

 

Next, Define your self-worth. Define how your investments are giving back to you.

Is confidence growing?  Is strength emerging?  Is inner beauty taking hold?

Be honest. Be brave. Let go of anyone or anything that stunts your growth.

  

And then, Determine your self-worth.  Determine your action steps.

What will you do to prioritize your worth?  To promote it? To protect it?

You are the gardener of your self-worth. You determine its growth.

 

Where is your beauty?

Be still. Turn inward. It’s there.

Flourishing in a garden of self-worth.

"Educated" Reminds Us, Speaking Truth About Abuse Comes At A Cost. Speak It Anyway.

Recently, I finished reading  Tara Westover's powerful memoir, "Educated."  This blog is neither a review of her work or a critique of its content. It is about its offerings. Forgiveness Does Not Heal Betrayal: Here's Why

Recently I gave a TED Talk - BETRAYAL: The Loss No One Is Talking About . At the beginning of  the talk I asked the audience two questions: "If you have ever felt betrayed, have you been told to give it time, to trust again, or to forgive?
